The Sound of Silence

I came across this by accident. The feelings this music evoked were so beautiful, so moving that I knew I had to share it. Originally made famous by Simon & Garfunkel such is the power of the lyrics and music of The Sound of Silence that it has become a classic. It is no wonder this American a cappella group from  Arlington Texas chose to present it, giving it a lovely twist of their own.

Consisting of vocalists Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee, the group is known as Pentatonix. They have won numerous awards and it is little wonder when you hear them sing.

Somehow they manage to respect the mastery of Simon and Garfunkel, and whilst not taking away from the original, they nevertheless produce a beautiful blending of haunting sounds, and clear, rich tones. They touch the soul with the purity of their rendition. Each member of the group is different, is individual and a wonderful example of diversity coming together.

At times it is lovely to share solely for the experience of sharing. Therefore I sincerely hope you enjoy it. However, either way, feel free to let me know. I love hearing from you.

  1. I love Pentatonix, but I’d never heard their rendition of The Sound of Silence before. Very moving. The world could learn a lesson from the way this diverse group of five individuals blend together to make something so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely piece you stumbled upon by accident.

    • Thank you for that lovely comment and it was the best accident. I already knew the group but was looking for something else to do with Greek music and I don’t know how I landed there. So happy I did and so happy you like it.

I would love you to leave a reply
