For the Italians out there, do you remember this one?

I am loving the idea of sharing the music that I hear when writing.  Notice I said hear and not play?  I don’t really even know why I make the associations but something about the essence of the characters is locked up in my mind with a particular song.  Next thing I find myself searching on YouTube and then somehow a sound track is born. I have already begun to collect pieces for Lexi who stars in my second book of the series, Unexpected Passion. She is Greek so I have some wonderful things going on in my mind. I need time to fine tune but meanwhile here’s one for Nico to brood over along with an extract. This one is in Italian and I hope you enjoy it.  Thank you YouTube for your wonderful choices.

From Unexpected Obsession

“For fuck’s sake,” he whispered to himself. “It’s been nearly two years. When does it stop?” Everything in the room reminded him of her. Lia had chosen every item to suit his need for simplicity, yet the warmth she had created had floored him. It wasn’t here now: he wanted it back.

The pressure in his head was unyielding. He couldn’t go on like this. The sounds made as he knocked every item on the top of the dresser to the floor didn’t assuage his anger. The sweetness of the shattered perfume bottle permeated every corner of the bedroom. It made his head spin. He hit the wall with his fist and didn’t blink at the hole he left or at the blood now smeared across the pristine white.

“Ivana,” Nico said into the intercom. “Drop everything and get in here now. Bring your notebook.”

The door flew open. She was there in front of him before he had finished the last word. She smiled. He kept his face impassive, ignoring the too knowing, gloating gleam in her eyes. For once Nico had the upper hand.

“Can I sit?”

He didn’t know why she bothered to ask, since she’d already sat down.

“Coffee is on the way, and I can clear about five weeks over Christmas.”

“Jesus,” he said in English, forgetting she spoke it better than he did, “one day I am really going to fucking fire you.”

She stared at him with a smug look on her face. “English, Italian, it’s all the same. Don’t use the Lord’s name in vain, or that tone of voice just because I’m a good assistant and can anticipate needs. It’s what you pay me for.”

“Smart arse. How the fuck did you know what I wanted?”

“It’s about time you came to your fucking senses. Let’s not waste any more time talking about things that don’t matter and get you on a plane.”

Ci vediamo
